Sonko pays tribute to Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké’s passing

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Ousmane Sonko, President of Senegal’s National Assembly, conveyed his profound sorrow upon learning of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the spiritual leader of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo.

The announcement came on the heels of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké’s demise on July 9, 2026. In his tribute, Sonko extended his deepest condolences to the deceased’s family, the General Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the entire Senegalese nation.

Honoring a revered spiritual figure

Sonko reflected on the meaningful encounters he had with the late religious leader during his visits to Guinguinéo. « Meeting Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké was always a moment of warmth and spiritual connection, » he shared. « His kindness, hospitality, and wisdom left a lasting impression on all who met him. »

The National Assembly President described the late Khalife as a pillar of guidance and compassion within the Mouride community. His leadership and spiritual influence extended far beyond Guinguinéo, resonating across Senegal.

In closing his message, Sonko prayed for the departed soul, seeking divine mercy and eternal peace for Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké. « May Allah, in His boundless compassion, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal paradise, » he wrote.
