Un security council denounces recent terrorist strikes in Mali

The UN Security Council has issued a stern condemnation of the “vile terrorist” operations carried out by Al-Qaeda-linked jihadist groups in Mali since April 25. Members of the Council are demanding that those behind these atrocities be held accountable and brought before the law.

In an official statement, the international body emphasized the urgent requirement to prosecute the individuals who planned, organized, financed, and executed these violent acts. The Council stressed that there is no justification for such brutality and that all sponsors of these crimes must face justice.

The nation is currently navigating a period of intense instability following a series of unprecedented assaults on key military and government strongholds. These strikes, which took place on April 25 and 26, targeted vital urban centers and resulted in the death of the Minister of Defense, dealing a significant blow to the administration that has held power since 2020.
