Algeria Niger health partnership deepens with new initiatives
Algeria and Niger have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral health cooperation during the second session of the Algerian-Nigerien Joint High Commission, as outlined in an official statement from the Algerian Ministry of Health.
During the high-level meeting held this week in Niamey, Algeria’s Minister of Health, Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudène, engaged in discussions with his Nigerien counterpart, Garba Hakimi. The two officials emphasized their shared determination to deepen health collaboration, describing it as part of a broader strategic vision to foster a sustainable and impactful partnership rooted in the strong fraternal ties between the two nations.
The discussions served as a platform to enhance mutual consultation and explore avenues for reinforcing bilateral health cooperation. Key areas reviewed included the current state of partnerships and future growth opportunities, all aimed at serving the health interests of both countries and their citizens.
The talks also covered critical technical aspects, including:

The two nations agreed to promote hospital twinning projects and support the development of health infrastructure. A key priority is strengthening coordination in preventive healthcare and combating diseases with regional spread, including the establishment of a tropical disease monitoring center in Tamanrasset.
The digital transformation of healthcare systems also took center stage, with both ministers highlighting the need to integrate digital solutions into health management. This includes improving health information systems to boost governance and operational efficiency in healthcare delivery.
