Abidjan, 05 juil 2026 – A new political movement, Alternative Crédible (ACR), has been formally introduced to the press, seeking to present a fresh political offering for Côte d’Ivoire. Leaders of the movement unveiled their vision during a press conference held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Grand-Bassam.
Oxyde Tano, who serves as the National Executive Secretary for ACR and was the primary speaker at the event, articulated the foundational principles, ambitious goals, and overarching vision of this emerging political entity. He positioned ACR as a direct response to the pressing socio-economic and democratic challenges currently facing the nation.
Tano explained that this initiative first took shape on December 1, 2025, stemming from the collective will of women, men, and young people from diverse backgrounds. These individuals are united by a strong determination to introduce an innovative approach to the practice of politics within Côte d’Ivoire.
According to Tano, the establishment of ACR is rooted in a shared understanding: despite its substantial human and natural resources, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with numerous difficulties. These include the escalating cost of living, widespread youth unemployment, persistent social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and significant social divisions.
Positioning itself as a left-wing political movement, ACR firmly asserts its commitment to placing human well-being at the core of its actions. Its aspirational vision is for a Côte d’Ivoire that is “just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, solidary, and steadfastly respectful of the rule of law.”
Operating under the compelling slogan, « Demain se décide aujourd’hui » (Tomorrow is decided today), ACR aims to champion a style of governance characterized by transparency, open dialogue, and a relentless pursuit of the general interest. In the long term, the party intends to rally all active forces of the nation around a robust and credible political agenda, thereby contributing to the development of a more efficient state, a more inclusive economy, and a more equitable society, crucial elements for progressive **African politics**.
The leadership of ACR outlined the main pillars of their political platform. These include fostering youth employment and entrepreneurship, enhancing the national education system, improving access to healthcare, modernizing the agricultural sector, ensuring the security of individuals and property, promoting women’s rights, combating the high cost of living, driving economic development, protecting the environment, and strengthening national unity.
Oxyde Tano reiterated that ACR remains open to engaging in dialogue with all political and social forces that share its core values of peace, democracy, social justice, and development. He provided assurances that particular attention would be directed towards the youth, women, workers, economic operators, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.
The National Executive Secretary further announced that the movement’s official launch event is scheduled for August in Cocody. During this significant occasion, ACR’s President, Bamba Abou, will formally present the movement’s comprehensive political vision and the key orientations of its program.
In preparation for this ceremony, a series of awareness tours, general assemblies, the establishment of local coordination bodies, and national campaigns for mobilization and membership will be organized across the entire territory of Côte d’Ivoire.
“The moment has arrived to embark on a new chapter in our history,” Oxyde Tano concluded, reaffirming ACR’s profound ambition to contribute to building a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, stronger, and more prosperous.”
