Como submits bid for Chelsea defender Chalobah as Inter Milan watch closely

Como has submitted an official offer for Trevoh Chalobah

Como have formally entered the race to sign Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah, with the ambitious Serie A side presenting a bid for the defender. The club, now managed by former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, has qualified for the Champions League and sees Chalobah as a key addition to lead their European campaign. The exact fee remains undisclosed, but Chelsea are open to selling the homegrown talent, who made 47 appearances last season, scoring three goals in the Premier League. Under contract until 2028, the Blues hold a strong negotiating position.

Inter Milan are also tracking the defender

Serie A champions Inter Milan are closely monitoring Chalobah’s situation, viewing him as an ideal reinforcement for their defence. The Nerazzurri, managed by Cristian Chivu, are seeking proven European talent, and Chalobah’s Premier League experience and versatility make him a prime target. Should a bidding war erupt, Chelsea could profit significantly from a Cobham academy product. For Chalobah, the chance to play in the Champions League is a major attraction, especially as Chelsea finished a disappointing 10th and will miss European competition next season.

Tuchel’s faith and England call-up

Despite his uncertain club future, Chalobah remains highly regarded by England manager Thomas Tuchel. The former Chelsea coach called up the 26-year-old as a late replacement for the injured Tino Livramento, leaving Manchester United’s Harry Maguire out of the squad. While Chalobah has yet to feature in England’s World Cup campaign – a 4-2 win over Croatia and a 0-0 draw with Ghana – his selection underscores Tuchel’s esteem. Chalobah has only one senior cap but continues to prove his quality at the highest level.

Chelsea’s summer defensive overhaul continues

Chalobah’s potential departure is part of a broader defensive rebuild under new boss Xabi Alonso. Chelsea are actively scouting replacements, with Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix and Como’s Jacobo Ramon on their radar. The club has already completed a £51 million move for Atalanta’s Marco Palestra to strengthen a backline that struggled last term. On the flanks, the search for a new left-back has intensified following Marc Cucurella’s high-profile transfer to Real Madrid. Leeds United’s Gabriel Gudmundsson is now a target. With Chalobah likely to leave, Stamford Bridge’s summer turnover shows no signs of slowing down.
