Abidjan – Endeavour Mining, a prominent mining company, has injected an impressive 1.71 trillion FCFA into Côte d’Ivoire’s national economy between 2021 and 2025. This substantial contribution includes 644 billion FCFA channeled directly to the Ivorian State through taxes, royalties, and dividends, as detailed in the company’s inaugural Country Impact Report dedicated to Côte d’Ivoire.
Unveiled on Monday, June 29, 2026, at Endeavour Mining’s headquarters in Cocody, the report, aptly titled « Créer de la valeur tangible » (Creating Tangible Value), meticulously outlines the achievements of its Ity and Lafigué mines. It highlights their significant contributions across economic development, community upliftment, and environmental stewardship.
Laetitia Gadegbeku-Ouattara, Endeavour’s Vice-President for Public Affairs and Country Director in Côte d’Ivoire, presented the report’s findings. She affirmed that the Ity and Lafigué operations have transformed gold into a genuine catalyst for sustainable development over the past five years. Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara reiterated the group’s unwavering commitment to fostering a partnership built on trust, transparency, and shared progress.
Delving deeper into the financial impact, she specified that of the 644 billion FCFA paid to the State, 398 billion originated from taxes, 149 billion from royalties, and 97 billion from dividends. Furthermore, Endeavour Mining allocated 904 billion FCFA to procuring goods and services from national suppliers, underscoring its commitment to the local economy.
Endeavour Mining stands as a vital employer in Côte d’Ivoire, employing over 1,350 individuals, with 94% being Ivorian nationals. The company also collaborates extensively with 4,390 service providers and more than 600 local suppliers. This extensive network solidifies its position as a leading contributor to the nation’s public revenues and the foremost gold producer in Côte d’Ivoire, playing a key role in the African economy.
In the realm of public health, Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara highlighted that over 120,000 individuals have benefited from the company and its foundation’s initiatives focused on prevention, screening, and access to medical care. Notably, Health Caravans provided free consultations and treatments to nearly 4,000 people, while 64 patients received free cataract surgeries, demonstrating a tangible impact on community well-being.
Dr. Youssouf Koné, the Departmental Health Director of Zouan-Hounien, acknowledged the crucial support provided by Endeavour Mining’s partnership in the ongoing fight against malaria, significantly benefiting communities residing near the Ity mine.
Regarding education, Endeavour’s programs reached over 4,000 children and young people between 2021 and 2025, alongside 842 students who completed practical internships. Key human capital development initiatives include « Élites de Demain » (Elites of Tomorrow), « Jeunes Filles en Scolarité » (Girls in School), and « Pépites d’Or » (Gold Nuggets).
The report also detailed an investment exceeding 2.8 billion FCFA in community infrastructure. These funds facilitated 71 projects for safe drinking water access and security, the rehabilitation of 16 roads benefiting over 360,000 people, the implementation of 10 rural electrification projects, and the issuance of 1,000 driving licenses to boost youth professional integration.
Economically, over 3,000 individuals benefited from 284 income-generating initiatives, funded with 487 million FCFA, with a particular focus on empowering women and youth. The « N’Goto Yetehe » program, for instance, provided vocational training to 63 young people across eight trades in Lafigué.
On the environmental front, Endeavour reported planting over 158,000 trees and protecting or restoring 199 hectares of land between 2021 and 2025. Key actions included the « Un enfant, un arbre » (One Child, One Tree) program, conducted with schools, and the restoration of 125 hectares of classified forests in partnership with SODEFOR. The company also highlighted that its « Vers Zéro Plastique » (Towards Zero Plastic) strategy successfully eliminated over 1.3 million single-use plastic bottles, marking a remarkable 99% reduction in three years.
The Côte d’Ivoire Impact Report 2021-2025 was presented to host communities of the Ity and Lafigué mines. The audience included administrative and territorial authorities, traditional leaders, and representatives from youth, women’s groups, and mining project steering committees.
Endeavour Mining is recognized as a leading global gold producer and holds the top position in West Africa. The group operates mines in Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso, while also advancing several projects within the Birimian belt.
