In a formal response, attorney Mélissa Nyoth, acting on behalf of Sani Mouhamadou, denies any mention of Maxime Eko Eko in her client’s recent statement

In a strongly worded legal rebuttal, attorney Mélissa Nyoth, representing Sani Mouhamadou, has categorically refuted claims made by the legal team of Maxime Eko Eko Léopold in a press release dated August 9, 2026. The document in question was widely circulated across social media platforms.

The initial press release issued by Sani Mouhamadou on August 5, 2026, had referenced several Cameroonian state institutions, including the General Directorate of External Research (DGRE), as entities that had allegedly engaged his services and network during 2020. The legal team of Maxime Eko Eko Léopold responded by issuing a denial, asserting that:

• It was in fact their client who sought and secured a meeting with Sani Mouhamadou to propose professional services;
• Sani Mouhamadou failed to substantiate his claimed expertise or official credentials;
• The DGRE ultimately declined the technical proposals and severed all contact with him.

They further emphasized that no initial request for information or contractual agreement could be attributed to Sani Mouhamadou.

In response, Sani Mouhamadou issued a statement clarifying that his original press release was exclusively intended to correct misinformation and protect his professional reputation following the circulation of videos on July 24 and 25, 2026. He stressed that the name of Maxime Eko Eko Léopold was never mentioned, suggesting that the inaccuracies in the opposing statement may stem from a misunderstanding.

Documented evidence of initial contact

Sani Mouhamadou provided further context by revealing that on February 1, 2020, at 7:09 a.m., Maxime Eko Eko Léopold had reached out to him via messaging with the words: “I urgently need your help…” This correspondence serves as documented proof of the initial outreach, contradicting the assertions made in the opposing statement. Additionally, he highlighted his certified expertise through the Institute of Advanced National Defense Studies as an irrefutable credential.

Following the circulation of the disputed statement, an informal amicable approach was initiated in an effort to resolve the misunderstanding, but no resolution was reached.

Despite his respect for Maxime Eko Eko Léopold, Sani Mouhamadou has deemed it necessary to defend his professional integrity and personal honor. He has formally requested the immediate retraction of the press release within 48 hours, warning that failure to comply will compel him to present evidence in his possession and pursue legal action for defamation.
