Morocco’s minister of foreign affairs, african cooperation and moroccans abroad, Nasser Bourita, held a series of high-level diplomatic engagements in Amman with his counterparts from Bahrain and Jordan.
These meetings, held on the sidelines of the Arab League summit, aimed at strengthening bilateral alliances and addressing pressing security challenges in the region.
Alliance and stability alongside bahrain
During his conversation with Bahrain’s foreign minister, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, talks centered on coordinating efforts to ensure peace and stability across the Arab world. The two diplomats reviewed the evolution of the deep historical bonds linking Rabat and Manama, exploring new avenues for collaboration in areas of mutual interest, in line with guidelines from Morocco’s foreign ministry.
Attending the working session were Morocco’s ambassador to Jordan, Fouad Akhrif, the kingdom’s permanent representative to the Arab League, Mohamed Aït Ouali, and Khalid Bencheikh, director of Maghreb affairs at the ministry.
Upcoming joint commission with jordan
Additionally, Bourita met with Jordan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister, Ayman Safadi. The central focus of this discussion was preparing the sixth session of the Morocco-Jordan High Joint Commission, coordinated by Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and scheduled for later this year. The two ministers agreed on the need to craft an ambitious agenda to elevate bilateral relations to a higher strategic level.
With both Jordan and Bahrain, the Moroccan representative shared the view that it is urgent to strengthen political consultation mechanisms to address the current complex geopolitical situation.
Activity within the arab league
These bilateral meetings followed Bourita’s participation in the consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers and the sessions of the 165th ordinary session of the Arab League Council, reinforcing Morocco’s active role in regional multilateral dialogue.
