With the PASTEF party’s upcoming congress just two days away, Aldiouma Sow, a presidential advisor, took a firm stance to address Ousmane Sonko’s recent remarks. In a statement that drew attention, he defended President Bassirou Diomaye Faye against allegations of a so-called “secret pact” supposedly made during his detention at Cap Manuel.
Aldiouma Sow categorically rejected the notion that the President had ever entered into any clandestine agreements while in prison. He emphasized that Bassirou Diomaye Faye remained steadfast in his principles and political commitments throughout the process that led to Senegal’s 2024 political transition.
The advisor also dismissed claims suggesting the President had engaged in attempts to undermine the people’s sovereign right to choose their leader. “He never participated in any scheme to hijack the democratic will of the Senegalese people,” he asserted.
Expanding on the President’s approach to political dialogue, Aldiouma Sow described it as far more than a tactical maneuver for managing power dynamics. Instead, he framed it as a core value guiding Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s governance and institutional decisions.
