PSG’s final league of champions tune-up: intense internal clash without key stars
The Ballon d’Or winner and the Moroccan defender skipped the internal friendly match in Poissy, but their absence raised no concerns ahead of the Arsenal showdown.
With the Champions League final just seven days away, Paris Saint-Germain orchestrated a high-stakes dress rehearsal in Poissy. Luis Enrique staged an internal scrimmage to sharpen his squad’s edge ahead of the May 30 showdown against Arsenal in Budapest. Two 11-player teams clashed for over an hour in a fiercely contested match designed to maintain match sharpness.
The squads were split as follows:
Black team: Marin – Fanne Drame, Zabarnyi, Hernandez, Mendes – Mayulu, Neves, Beraldo – Doué, Ramos, Barcola.
White team: Safonov – Zaïre-Emery, Pacho, Marquinhos, Cordier – Dro, Vitinha, Ruiz – Mbaye, Lee, Kvaratskhelia.
Ousmane Dembélé and Achraf Hakimi were the only absentees from the friendly, but both trained individually. The club confirmed no risks were taken with their fitness, and they remain fully available for the Budapest showdown. Nuno Mendes and Willian Pacho, benched in the recent Ligue 1 clash against Paris FC, were fully involved.
Luis Enrique introduced young talents such as Abdou Fanne Drame, Rayan Abo El Nay, Thomas Cordier and Yanis Khafi to the fray. Goals were struck by Vitinha, Ibrahim Mbaye and Gonçalo Ramos, adding competitive fire to the session.
Training resumes on Tuesday
The scrimmage unfolded before 1,000 ultras, invited to celebrate their season-long devotion and recreate stadium atmosphere ahead of the final. The Collectif Ultras Paris unfurled a banner reading “Once it’s historic, twice it’s legendary.” Over 150 children from PSG for Communities also attended, personally welcomed by President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.
Post-match, Marquinhos and teammates gifted jerseys and balls to the fans. After Sunday and Monday’s rest, the squad returns to training on Tuesday, entering the final stretch of preparation.
