World vision Tchad’s bold roadmap to transform children’s futures by 2030

N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has unveiled its ambitious five-year strategy for 2026–2030, marking a significant step toward improving the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. The initiative, launched during a high-profile press conference in N’Djamena, outlines a holistic plan to address critical needs in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience. The roadmap prioritizes the most vulnerable populations, with a targeted reach of 3.09 million children facing the greatest challenges.

a transformative vision for Chad’s youth

During the launch event, Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for World Vision West Africa, emphasized the groundbreaking nature of the strategy. Dubbed the “Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus,” the approach bridges emergency relief, long-term development, and peacebuilding efforts. “Every child in Chad deserves a life of abundance,” she stated, highlighting the importance of strong partnerships, community engagement, and cultural sensitivity in achieving this goal.

Denizard stressed that West and Central Africa’s most fragile contexts—including Chad—face persistent challenges: insecurity, deep-rooted poverty, climate-induced disasters, and mass displacement. World Vision’s response is an integrated strategy that aligns with continental and global agendas, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (notably SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. Key focal areas include human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation, literacy through the Unlock Literacy program, and child safeguarding.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the strategy a “historic moment” for the organization and the children of Chad. He noted that the new roadmap represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear mission: “Not just survival, but thriving.” The plan targets 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million in high-risk communities.

Ngoy Wangoy painted a stark picture of Chad’s struggles: nearly 42% of the population lives below the poverty line, malnutrition remains rampant, and climate shocks exacerbate vulnerabilities. The strategy’s four pillars address these crises head-on:

• Nutrition and health: Integrated maternal and child health programs aim to curb malnutrition and improve survival rates.
• Education: The Unlock Literacy initiative focuses on early-grade reading skills to build a stronger foundation for lifelong learning.
• Child protection: Comprehensive programs shield children from violence, exploitation, and harmful practices.
• Climate resilience: Community-based adaptation strategies help families withstand environmental shocks.

World Vision Tchad concluded the launch with an urgent appeal to all stakeholders—government bodies, technical partners, civil society, religious leaders, media, and local communities. Success, they argued, hinges on unified efforts to turn current challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children. By 2030, the organization aims to contribute directly to Chad’s Vision 2030 and the global SDGs, ensuring every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
