Brest to pay tribute to Éric Roy in Ligue 1 clash with PSG

Three months after the sudden passing of Éric Roy, Stade Brestois 29 has announced plans to honor the club’s former manager during their Ligue 1 encounter with Paris Saint-Germain on the fourth matchday.

The match scheduled for September 13, 2026, will carry special significance for the Brittany-based club. In a statement, Stade Brestois expressed their intention to create a fitting tribute that reflects « the deep impact Éric Roy left on the club’s history and the affection he inspired among his family, friends, club members and the entire Brest community ».

The club had originally considered organizing the tribute during earlier home fixtures at Francis-Le Blé stadium. However, logistical challenges prevented the desired gathering of supporters. Additionally, the Quimper stand was closed for the match against Toulouse FC due to « repeated use of pyrotechnics », further complicating early arrangements. Brest officials ultimately decided to postpone the tribute until the highly anticipated PSG showdown to ensure maximum participation and emotional resonance.
