Chad tightens security at worship and public sites for Tabaski celebrations

The Minister of Public Security and Immigration, General Ali Ahmat Aghabache, has directed security forces on May 25, 2026, to heighten monitoring at public and religious sites during Tabaski.

In an official directive, General Ali Ahmat Aghabache has urged relevant agencies to implement all necessary precautions and maintain maximum vigilance to safeguard mosques, churches, and other places of worship, as well as markets, government buildings, and all public gathering spaces throughout the Tabaski festivities.

The announcement underscores the strict enforcement of security measures throughout the holiday period.

Tabaski, also known as Aïd al-Adha, is one of the most significant Islamic celebrations, featuring large communal prayers, animal sacrifices, and widespread family and community gatherings. This festive occasion typically sees a surge in attendance at places of worship and markets.

The intensified security protocols come as regional security threats persist. Strengthening these measures aims to avert any incidents that could disrupt the peaceful observance of the celebrations.
