Manchester United leads race for Mateus Fernandes as PSG faces competition

PSG’s summer transfer window is set to be eventful. After securing their second consecutive Champions League title, the Parisian club aims to refresh Luis Enrique’s squad. One of the names linked is Mateus Fernandes.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is expected to leave West Ham, who were relegated to the EFL Championship. However, Manchester United could overtake PSG in the race for the Portuguese talent.

Manchester United in talks for Fernandes

Manchester United have started discussions with the player’s representatives about the potential transfer cost, including the fee and salary. West Ham have set a price of around €98 million for Fernandes to depart this summer. It is clear he will move, as he is not suited for the Championship, and the London club is firm on that valuation.

Fernandes open to Manchester United move?

Now, the decision lies with Mateus Fernandes. While PSG’s project is attractive, Manchester United have been pursuing the Portuguese international since last summer. The West Ham player would be open to joining the Red Devils. Meanwhile, PSG have explored other transfer targets, including Yan Diomandé (RB Leipzig), Eli Junior Kroupi (Bournemouth), and Maghnes Akliouche (AS Monaco). The transfer market in Paris promises to be interesting.
