On Tuesday in Nouakchott, General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, was welcomed by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani. The meeting took place in the presence of Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar.
Earlier that day, General Berrid visited the Mauritanian Ministry of Defense, where he engaged in discussions with Minister of Defense Hanana Ould Sidi. During the meeting, the Mauritanian President honored the Moroccan delegation by presenting General Berrid with the Commander grade of the National Order of Merit.
Following this exchange, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Joint Military Commission. Both sides reviewed the progress of bilateral defense cooperation, highlighting its positive impact on regional security.
The high-level talks underscored the strong strategic partnership between Mauritania and Morocco. Military leaders commended the tangible outcomes of this collaboration, affirming its role as a model for regional defense alliances.
