In a statement posted on Facebook, Ndeye Rokhaya Thiam, the newly appointed head of the Senegalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (COSEC), has reaffirmed her commitment to Ousmane Sonko, sparking reactions in a already tense political climate where loyalty is being questioned.
Thiam, who took over at COSEC in May 2024, expressed her support for Sonko as tensions between the leader of Pastef and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye continue to escalate.
Recently appointed COSEC director-general, Thiam stated that a close advisor had urged her to remain loyal to Ousmane Sonko, regardless of future political developments.
Thiam reported receiving advice from a trusted source to maintain her allegiance to Ousmane Sonko, stating that he would be able to recognize her when the time came. This stance comes in a climate where the relationships between several figures of the majority party are subject to numerous speculations and comments.
Thiam concluded her statement by saying, “Cher frère, tu te reconnaîtras. Et oui, Ousmane me verra..”
