Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire – The Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire – African Democratic Rally (PDCI-RDA) has reiterated its unwavering position regarding the establishment of a consensual electoral body, emphasizing the critical need for direct political dialogue among key stakeholders. Brédoumy Soumaïla, the party’s spokesperson, stressed that such a pivotal process cannot be reduced to a mere informational briefing.
Speaking from the Party Headquarters in Cocody, Mr. Soumaïla affirmed, “The PDCI-RDA has formally requested the government to initiate this dialogue without delay. Our nation’s recent past clearly demonstrates that lasting peace and social cohesion are unattainable without genuine consultation.”
He expressed dissatisfaction with the head of government’s invitation to political parties for an “exchange-free” information meeting, deeming this approach insufficient. The party intends to consistently press its demand for a broader negotiation framework whenever necessary.
Furthermore, the PDCI-RDA is insisting on the revision of the electoral list before the close of 2026, in strict adherence to the Electoral Code. Mr. Brédoumy highlighted the failure to conduct the scheduled 2025 revision, which was reportedly funded by the state budget, without any official explanation. “The government must be held accountable to Ivorian taxpayers for the management of these funds,” he asserted.
“The people are looking to the PDCI-RDA for assistance. This support, channeled through President Cheick Tidjane Thiam, will be instrumental in reclaiming state power to serve the progress of all and the well-being of every individual,” the spokesperson concluded.
