Tchad advances digital education strategy with national validation workshop

The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training convened a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to review and endorse the ground-level assessment report, laying the groundwork for the country’s first National Digital Transformation Strategy for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The two-day session brought together key stakeholders—including educators, administrators, and policymakers—to scrutinize findings from an extensive nationwide study. Conducted under the Pan-African Initiative for TVET Digital Transformation, supported by major continental bodies such as the UNESCO, African Union, and African Development Bank, the analysis engaged over 200 participants from 57 TVET centers. Data was gathered through both field missions and digital surveys spanning all regional academic zones.

The digital overhaul of TVET aims to equip Chad’s workforce with future-ready skills by aligning training programs with technological advancements and emerging labor market demands. Speaking on behalf of the Secretary of State, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, emphasized that digitalization is no longer optional but a strategic priority. He highlighted the report’s dual findings: promising progress alongside critical hurdles in governance, digital infrastructure, connectivity, energy access, trainer capacity, and curriculum integration of digital competencies.

Participants were urged to refine the draft strategy to ensure it reflects national realities while remaining inclusive and actionable. Once finalized, the validated report will underpin the 2026–2030 National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET, aiming to deliver a modern, high-performing system that meets both educational excellence and employment market standards.
