The Office National pour l’Organisation du Pèlerinage (ORGEP), led by General Idriss Dokony Adiker, has issued a stern reminder to Chadian pilgrims ahead of the 2026 Hajj season. The directive follows an international conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where key safety and discipline protocols were outlined for this year’s pilgrimage.
Key guidelines for pilgrims
The ORGEP’s advisory emphasizes strict adherence to Saudi authorities’ instructions to ensure a safe and orderly Hajj experience. Among the critical measures:
- Prohibited activities: Political or partisan religious discussions are strictly forbidden in hotels, as well as at the holy sites of Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah. Any form of organized political gatherings is also banned.
- Accommodation rules: Unauthorized individuals are not permitted to stay in pilgrims’ accommodations or at ritual sites.
- Heat precautions: With temperatures soaring in Saudi Arabia, pilgrims are advised to avoid outdoor activities between 10 AM and 4 PM to minimize health risks. Long walks between ritual locations are discouraged to preserve physical stamina.
- Special accommodations: Elderly, ill, or mobility-impaired pilgrims may designate a representative to perform the stoning of the pillars (Djamarat) on their behalf.
- Emergency contact: In case of urgent needs, pilgrims should immediately dial the Saudi authorities’ assistance hotline: 1966.
Commitment to a secure pilgrimage
Through this advisory, the ORGEP urges Chadian pilgrims to prioritize safety and discipline throughout the Hajj 2026 journey. By following these guidelines, they can contribute to a smooth and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience for all participants.
