Cameroon and Central African Republic resolve border tensions peacefully

Following a rapid response to an incident at the shared border, authorities from Cameroon and the Central African Republic have successfully defused tensions through dialogue. The situation unfolded in the village of Gasol, where two Cameroonian gendarmes were captured on video by local residents, allegedly engaging in extortion while armed with Kalashnikov rifles.

Upon receiving reports from the community, Central African military units stationed in the area intervened promptly. They disarmed the gendarmes and escorted them to the Beloko police station near the border, where the incident was documented and addressed.

Diplomatic efforts lead to resolution

A high-level meeting between officials from both nations took place on Tuesday, marking a decisive step toward reconciliation. The discussions reaffirmed mutual respect for each country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, ensuring that the incident did not escalate into a larger conflict.
