New Lions Club governor launches regional tour in Côte d’Ivoire
Mr. Jean Pierre Hillah, the newly appointed Governor of Lions Club International’s District 403-A2, initiated his official regional tour in Côte d’Ivoire. The visit kicked off on Monday, August 31, 2026, with a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Planning and Development, where he was received by Dr. Souleymane Diarra Souba.
District 403-A2’s priorities: youth empowerment and environmental protection
The District 403-A2, which spans Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, includes five regions across Ivorian territory. The Lions Club International’s initiatives in the sub-region focus primarily on bolstering youth skills and promoting environmental sustainability.
During the meeting, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the implementation of Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan (NDP) for the 2026-2030 period.
Strategic alignment with Côte d’Ivoire’s development vision
Dr. Souleymane Diarra Souba highlighted the timeliness of the visit, noting that Côte d’Ivoire has recently embarked on a fresh phase of its National Development Plan. The 2026-2030 NDP embodies the vision of President Alassane Ouattara to elevate the country to the status of an upper-middle-income nation by 2030.
The Minister also emphasized the robust mobilization of partners around the NDP 2026-2030, underscoring that government actions are in sync with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
Collaboration prospects in key sectors
The discussions laid the groundwork for future cooperation in critical areas such as youth development, healthcare, education, and environmental conservation.
