The Commander of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Inspector General, General Mohammed Berrid, concluded a significant two-day working visit to Nouakchott, where he engaged with high-ranking Mauritanian officials to reinforce bilateral military ties.
High-level meetings mark the visit
During the visit, General Mohammed Berrid was received by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott. The meeting took place in the presence of Hamid Chabar, Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, as confirmed in an official statement from the FAR’s General Staff.
In a notable gesture of cooperation, Hanana Ould Sidi, Mauritania’s Minister of Defense, awarded General Berrid the National Order of Merit in the rank of Commander on behalf of the Mauritanian President. The ceremony underscored the strong diplomatic and military relations between the two nations.
A milestone in joint defense initiatives
Following the official reception, General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Mixed Military Commission. The discussions centered on evaluating the progress of existing security collaborations and exploring new avenues for enhanced cooperation.
The military leadership from both countries expressed their satisfaction with the tangible outcomes of their partnership. They highlighted the success of joint initiatives, which have set a benchmark for strategic military collaboration in the region.
