Niger officially launches preparations for 2026 investment forum

The government of Niger has taken a decisive step forward in organizing the highly anticipated “Invest in Niger” forum, slated for November 24 to 26, 2026. The official committee tasked with overseeing its preparations has been formally installed, with a clear mandate to position the event as a premier showcase of the nation’s economic potential to both local and global investors.

The official countdown to this significant event has now begun. In Niamey, authorities formally established the specialized committee responsible for orchestrating the international “Invest in Niger” forum. Addressing the newly constituted members, Mr. Abdoulaye Seydou, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, immediately highlighted the profound importance of this gathering for the country’s economic future.

The forum is primarily designed as a robust platform to highlight a multitude of investment opportunities across key sectors vital for national development. According to the Minister, Niger possesses substantial economic potential, and it is now incumbent upon the authorities to enhance this value by fostering conditions conducive to reassuring, attracting, and supporting both domestic and international capital. This strategic focus is critical for driving African economy news and growth.

A call for rigor and synergy

The Minister subsequently urged the committee members to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, adhere strictly to deadlines, and ensure seamless synergy among all stakeholders involved. This directive aims to guarantee the success of an event whose aspirations extend beyond national borders. The forum is set to host several distinguished guest countries, including Turkey, China, and Russia, alongside special invitees from across the continent and beyond, reflecting a broad approach to African politics and economic engagement.

Extensive diplomatic engagement

Beyond the invited countries of honor, delegations from Burkina Faso and Mali, partners of Niger within the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), are expected to participate. They will be joined by representatives from Togo, Ghana, Chad, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, India, and Saudi Arabia, underscoring the forum’s broad appeal for continent press and global partnerships.

Four sub-commissions for structured guidance

The ad hoc committee comprises experts drawn from various sectoral ministries and professional bodies. It is strategically organized into four specialized sub-commissions, each entrusted with a distinct and vital mandate:

  • Scientific research and content development

  • Logistics, exhibition management, protocol, and security

  • Communication and institutional coordination

The overarching mission assigned to this committee is extensive: to define the event’s organizational strategy, develop the detailed program of activities, meticulously select bankable projects for presentation to investors, and ensure the forum’s robust promotion and visibility on both national and international stages.

Repositioning Niger as a prime investment destination

Beyond the logistical arrangements, this initiative is deeply rooted in a broader political ambition. The authorities of the Refondation aim to revitalize the national economy and strategically position Niger as a preferred destination for private, regional, and international capital. The “Invest in Niger” forum thus emerges as a key diplomatic-economic tool in achieving this goal, particularly as several nations across Africa seek to diversify their economic partnerships and boost their standing in Africa news.

The challenge now lies with this newly established committee to transform, in just over four months, this ambitious blueprint into an event that fully meets the high expectations set by the government.
