Now, his professional trajectory is a significant topic of discussion, with suggestions emerging that the former Lille player should seriously consider a loan move to gain playing time.
While PSG has maintained a low profile in the current transfer window, the club faces a clear need to bolster its offensive line, particularly to offset the departures of Lee Kang-In and Gonçalo Ramos. In line with this strategy, the acquisition of Maghnes Akliouche is reportedly nearing completion, and he is expected to be one of several additions to the Parisian attack. Concurrently, the capital club is pursuing an unexpected target, with negotiations reportedly underway for the transfer of Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma. This potential move undoubtedly casts a shadow over Lucas Chevalier‘s prospects. Signed a year ago for €40 million, excluding bonuses, from LOSC, the French custodian was brought in with the expectation of eventually succeeding Gianluigi Donnarumma and becoming a future stalwart for the French national team, providing significant competition to Mike Maignan. In light of these developments, Lucas Chevalier‘s future at PSG appears increasingly precarious. According to analyst Walid Acherchour, the time has come for the French goalkeeper to seek playing opportunities elsewhere. He stated, “If I were Chevalier, I would push for a loan. I would engage in a dialogue with Luis Enrique, and if he couldn’t assure me the number one spot, I wouldn’t fight for it; I’d request a loan to play and then potentially return to PSG as the primary keeper. Competing with Safonov, who had an outstanding season… At what point can we truly question Safonov‘s position and reshuffle the hierarchy? He delivered an incredible second half of the season and was crucial. We have one goalkeeper maximizing his potential and another minimizing his. This isn’t a community center; we’re not here to hand out favors; this is PSG. Therefore, Safonov is number one, Chevalier number two. It would take a significant collapse from Safonov for Chevalier to regain his position.”
A call for a loan spell
Walid Acherchour also highlighted that even last summer, he had hoped PSG would allow Lucas Chevalier to remain on loan at LOSC for a season. He elaborated, “If I were Lucas Chevalier or even his representatives, I would be contemplating this issue. Not a permanent departure, as that would be excessive, but he absolutely needs to play. The market opportunity for PSG was indeed good last year, but I was among those who believed he should have been loaned out to Lille for another year. While I often say many things, in this instance… his transfer to PSG has, so far, proven to be a disaster.”

I remain convinced that Chevalier is a superior goalkeeper to Safonov, but he isn’t demonstrating it.” In contrast, Elton Mokolo presented a less definitive stance on Lucas Chevalier‘s future, stating, “If I were Chevalier, I would stay and fight. I’d put on some ‘Rocky’ training music and embrace the challenge. Chevalier‘s advantage is having a coach who will offer him another chance; there will be rotation.”
