US Ambassador in Rabat Celebrates Moroccan Sahara Partnership
Ambassador Richard Duke Buchan III expressed his appreciation to leaders from Laâyoune and Dakhla for their attendance at the United States’ National Day festivities.

The message was accompanied by a photograph depicting the US Ambassador alongside prominent regional figures: Moulay Hamdi Old Errechid, who serves as the President of the Laâyoune commune; Ynja El Khattat, President of the Dakhla Oued Eddahab regional council; and Sidi Hamdi Oild Errechid, President of the Laâyoune Sakia El Hamra region.
It is worth noting that the United States Embassy had previously organized a grand ceremony at Chellah in Rabat on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, drawing numerous Moroccan and international dignitaries. During his address at this event, Ambassador Richard Duke Buchan III specifically underscored the importance of the Moroccan Sahara. He affirmed, “We fully endorse His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s vision for the Moroccan Sahara to emerge as a pivotal hub for transatlantic partnerships and diverse opportunities.” The Ambassador further highlighted the profound historical roots of the relationship between Morocco and the United States, emphasizing, “This enduring partnership, deeply embedded in history, fortified by mutual trust, and resolutely oriented towards the next 250 years, stands as a testament to our unwavering dedication to strengthening economic and human bonds between our respective nations.”
