Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno vowed to escalate military efforts against Boko Haram, declaring a renewed commitment to eradicating the insurgent threat. His statement followed a deadly assault on a military outpost in Barka Tolorom, located along the Chadian shoreline of Lake Chad. The brazen attack, carried out by an affiliate faction of the Islamist militant group, resulted in the loss of 24 soldiers.
