High-level meeting in Niamey strengthens Sahel security ties

Niamey, July 27, 2026 – High-level talks among leaders of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) continue as Niger marks the third anniversary of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP) assuming power. Today, General Mohamed Toumba, Niger’s Minister of State for Interior, Public Security and Territorial Administration, met with Bassolma Bazié, Chair of Burkina Faso’s AES National Commission.

Bazié, in Niamey for commemorative events, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Interior. The meeting provided a platform for both officials to discuss pressing issues facing AES member states.
