Strengthening french-moroccan ties highlighted at Rabat reception

The French embassy in Morocco hosted a distinguished gathering in Rabat on July 14th to commemorate French National Day, drawing over 1,500 attendees. Ambassador Philippe Lalliot seized the occasion to spotlight the deepening bilateral cooperation between France and Morocco, emphasizing shared progress and mutual ambition.

During the event, the ambassador remarked, «From Rabat to Casablanca, Tanger to Marrakech, and even Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—our discussions transcend rhetoric. Here, we actively shape tomorrow, one step at a time.» The gathering was attended by Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, representing the national government.

Lalliot underscored the wide-ranging scope of the Morocco-France partnership, referencing President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI. In it, France reaffirmed its stance that the future of the Sahara is intrinsically tied to Morocco’s sovereignty. «Together, our nations champion the foundational principles of the international order and multilateral institutions,» the ambassador stated.

He also highlighted France’s role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and largest employer, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in the country’s industrial growth for more than a decade. Looking ahead, Lalliot outlined three key priorities: «collaborating on global challenges to bolster security, aligning economic sectors that will drive tomorrow’s prosperity, and nurturing friendship and mutual understanding—especially between our youth, who embody the future of our relationship.»

The ambassador concluded by celebrating the «unbreakable human bond» between the French and Moroccan peoples, a connection amplified by the dynamism of both countries’ diaspora communities.
