André Noël Essian installs over 20 senior officials at Cameroon’s National Assembly
Following the opening of the second regular session of the 2026 legislative year, secretary general André Noël Essian led the installation ceremony for over 20 senior officials appointed by President Théodore Datouo.
These high-ranking executives were promoted to positions within the questure and general secretariat services of the National Assembly. With the ceremony concluded, they officially assumed their roles in the nation’s representative body.
Since his election to the presidency of the National Assembly in March, deputy Théodore Datouo has made numerous appointments. These decisions, however, have not been universally welcomed. Critics accuse the successor to Cavaye Yeguié Djibril of ignoring regional balance considerations.
