Stade de Reims : le gardien Ewen Jaouen rejoint le club de Premier League Newcastle United

After three years with Stade de Reims, goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen is making the move to England. The Reims club officially confirmed his transfer to Premier League side Newcastle United this Wednesday, June 10th.

The departure of Ewen Jaouen from Stade de Reims has been made official! The Reims-based club announced on Wednesday, June 10th, that the talented 20-year-old goalkeeper has completed his transfer to Newcastle United, a prominent team in England’s top flight. Having initially joined the Rouge et Blanc three years prior, this move now positions him among the top 15 most highly-valued goalkeepers in the history of football.

Following a series of loan spells, the young footballer delivered an outstanding inaugural season with Stade de Reims this year. His remarkable achievement of 15 clean sheets stood out as the best performance across both Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 during the season. In their official statement, the Champagne club lauded him as “one of French football’s most promising last lines of defense.” The young Breton, who earned his first call-up for the France Espoirs national team this year, has consistently “impressed with his reflex saves, calm demeanor on the ball, and exceptional maturity.”

A commitment to young footballers in Marne

Stade de Reims had identified his potential and invested in him back in 2023. After spending the initial part of a season with the Pro 2 squad, the goalkeeper embarked on several loan assignments, notably with Rodez. During his time with the Aveyronnais club, at just 18 years old, he became the youngest starting goalkeeper across Europe’s top five leagues and their respective second divisions. The subsequent season saw him join Dunkerque, where his team impressively advanced to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France.

Beyond his professional duties on the pitch, Ewen Jaouen dedicated his time to the young athletes of AS Gueux, coaching them multiple times each week. Whenever his demanding schedule permitted, he also joined them on the fields during weekends throughout the department. Prior to his move, the children had the opportunity to share a final memorable moment with him at the Raymond Kopa training center.
